Tyra Naha-Leslie
Hopi-Tewa
It is such a pleasure working closely now with Tyra. She is delightful and so very talented. When I asked her to write me a few facts about herself, this is what she wrote:
“My name is Tyra Naha-Leslie, my grandmother is Helen Naha, Feather Woman, and my mother is Rainy Naha, I am a 3rd generation Potter of the Feather Family. I started learning at the age of 6, by my grandmother, Helen Naha, I started with making turtles, bears, Lil tiny bowls, when we weren’t at my grandmother’s my mom would help me with molding. By age 19 I did my first show at the Heard Museum and won a couple of awards. I have done other shows like Museum Of Man Show in San Diego, CA, Hopi Show in Flagstaff, AZ, and The Free Indian Market Santa Fe, NM. Today I am working more and more on my pottery and have been doing Art shows that come up.”
