Sharon has carved the Avanyu (water serpent) into this classic wedding vase. According to some traditions, the symbol of one vessel with two spouts represents the lives of the two spouses, who after their wedding day become one. One well known story about the wedding vase tells how the bride drinks pure water from one side, and then turns the vase around and hands it to the groom. He drinks from the other spout, and they are united as one. Thee vase becomes an heirloom for the couple and their family.
