Rose Gonzales (San Ildefonso) (deceased) (1900 – 1989)
This is a wonderful example of the pottery made by Rose Gonzales (deceased). It is traditionally hand built with native clay, stone burnished, pit fired. This rectangular black cornmeal lidded box was made by her probably in the second half of the 20th century. The use of cornmeal in pueblo ceremonials is well established as is the use by individuals in their homes. This lidded rectangular box features classic black on black painted designs on all four sides, as well as on the fitted lid.The box is signed Rose on the underside.

3 ½” high by 4 ½” wide by 3” deep
