I am always excited to find new jewelers who excel in the skill of inlaid work – with great stones, great colors, and nice shapes. Ronald Chavez makes very cool, modern, stylish inlaid tear drop shape earrings. Ronald lives at Santo Domingo Pueblo with his wife (Petra) and grown son (Ambrose). He is the Mayordomo (a person in charge of a group or project) of the ditch that runs thru Santo Domingo and this ditch irrigates all the fields that grow the corn, chili beans and alfalfa for the village. In his spare time, he makes beautiful inlaid jewelry.

This pair is made with coral, apple coral, gaspeite, jet, malachite, and various blue turquoises. These would dress up any outfit!

Born on April 20, 1958, to Rosalita and Remijio Chavez, Santo Domingo artist Ronald Chavez learned the craft of heishi making from his parents and grandmother. Beginning at age 6, Ronald would drill and grind heishi stones that his grandmother would then string into necklaces. He learned the old way, by grinding and buffing by hand with a grinding stone and buckskin.

Ronald lives at Santo Domingo Pueblo with his wife (Petra) and grown son (Ambrose). Ronald is skilled at many area of jewelry making. Heishi making, as well as creating beautiful turquoise pendants.
