We are so happy with the new works by Robert. This pot is hand coiled, and beautifully painted. Using a variety of colors from his clay slips, his imagery comes to life. Robert’s pieces are thin walled and lightweight. When I asked him to describe this new piece, he explained, “This pot is a 19th century design that I found in a book. Some still call it a migration pattern with all the mountains, the rain and the sun shining on the ground when it is wet. I could imagine the place where they got the design, but it must be a pretty place. The fine line, of course is the place with the rain.” This is a classic shape of a water jar – Robert coils it so well. He paints his images in such a way to fit on the shape in such an aesthetically pleasing way.
