It is always heartwarming when a piece of Mark’s that I bought from him comes back to me at the gallery. Mark made this beauty in March of 2004. At the time he had been experimenting with a beautiful, light mauve colored slip. He used it perfectly on this jar. Accenting the wings on his parrots, complimenting the black painted areas, it is quiet, and elegant. Hand coiled, fired outdoors, there is a soft orangish blush cast over much of the jar. Such a marvelous example of Mark’s classic, traditional work. Mark was so important in all our lives; he is still missed so dearly.
It is signed on the bottom, (Mark Tahbo along with a pipe for the Tobacco Clan. “04”)
