This new mini plate is so well done. Hand coiled and traditionally fired outdoors, it is similar to Linda’s larger plates, but scaled down to a miniature size. That is a really difficult task for her, especially since she has been coiling larger works, but she accomplished it magnificently. Linda and I are calling this a “starburst flower pattern.” There are 24 alternating polished and matte/mica petals. The pistil is the central female organ of any flower, and here it is highly polished to set off the carved petals. The rim of the plate is also polished. What a fantastic and creative miniature. She has signed it on the back rim: Linda Tafoya Sanchez Santa Clara Pueblo
