Hand coiled, incised, and fired outdoors, this is a marvelous new vase by Johnathan. His incising is so precise and detailed, his portraits of the Pueblo Dancers come to life. Their clothing is traditional as are their rattles and their jewelry. There is an etched band of spirals behind the dancers, and it feels like they are emerging from there. Notice how the figures are placed all the way to the bottom of the piece. For people who have never had the joy of watching Pueblo Dances – this is a great depiction of that traditional activity.
