This new jar by Johnathan is hand coiled, slipped with natural pigments, incised, and fired outdoors. It is a new shape, as Jonathan continually works on new forms. The opening is squared off, and the body of the jar is coiled into flat panels. This shape lends itself beautifully for a display of his precise and accurate portrayal of four New Mexico birds. There is an owl, a red tailed hawk, an eagle, and a raven. They are so true to life. Just below the polished edge of the lip, there is a beautiful design pattern, On the bottom of the jar Jonathan has etched a series of spirals. This is a terrific depiction of New Mexico bird imagery.
