Ida has been working on a series of clay tiles for us. Each one is different, and each one depicts part of the Navajo ceremonial experiences. They are all done with all natural materials – the clay, the pigments and slips, and the firings. Each one has the titles on the back – naming the images she has painted. They look wonderful individually or as a group.

Ida has titled this tile “Geometrical Yeis, the Guardians of the Sun.” The two Yei figures stand on either side of the sun. Ida both etches and paints these figures. She has used four different colors on each of the four sets of feathers. The border on this tile shows her well known stippling effect of painting.
