Harrison calls this new vase a “traditional style” piece. It is hand coiled, deeply carved and fired outdoors. He was inspired to do this shape by a vase he had from his mother-in-law, after she passed away.

The rim is polished, and then he has carved fourteen feathers alternating between polished and matte finishes. He feels that they are in a contemporary style. A polished horizontal band separates the feathers from the carved designs below. There is a stylized hummingbird, spirals, a representation of sun or moon rays above a stair stepped pattern, and other geometrics. Balancing the polished areas and the matte finished carvings is beautiful.
