Dorothy Ami
Hopi-Tewa
Dorothy Ami is a Hopi-Tewa potter who hand coils beautiful shapes and designs. She uses traditional clay and natural pigments. Her fine line designs are carefully drawn and crisply painted using a single strand of yucca and all natural pigments. Mark Tahbo and Debbie Clashin are her cousins. In fact, Mark was her mentor. The coiled walls on her pots are thin and lightweight. She achieves beautiful soft colors and hues on her work from the outdoor firings.
