This is such a special bowl by Dextra. It is hand coiled and traditionally fired. The swan design is so flowing and elegant. Each bird sails right into the next one. Dextra experimented with the traditional materials usually used for pottery; gathering clay from different sources from her village and creating variations on the characteristic orange, tan, and brown hues of Hopi bonfire pots. For the decorations, she used bee-weed plant for the black and native clay slips for the red. The bottom of this bowl shows such beautiful orange toned blushes. Signed in the clay, “Dextra” it also has the corn plant to represent the Corn Clan.
