This piece is a terrific example of a classic, traditional Hopi hand coiled seed jar. Beautiful tones and hues were achieved from this outdoor firing. She explained to me, “This pot is named Old Ways. The butterfly represents the Grace Chapella design that is encircled with the new world from above. The top on the other side represents the Kivas, the middles is the rain with the cornfields in the middle, and the bottom is the path we will walk to the next world.” It is a deeply spiritual creation by such a talented Hopi-Tewa artist.

Signed on the bottom, “Debbie Clashin 2023 with a pipe for the Tobacco Clan.
