Alice’s traditionally coiled and outdoor fired pottery is always so elegant. Plain and simple in form, the work is beautiful. One can see why she helped elevate Navajo pottery from folk art to fine art. Using all the traditional methods of pottery making, she hand coils, polishes, fires in an open fire, and uses pinion pitch coating inside and out. The fire clouds she achieves make for aesthetically beautiful works of art.

This new jar is one of our favorite shapes – tall and stately with an asymmetric stair stepped neck and opening. This time, for accentuation, Alice has used a natural green slip as a border outline for the carved neck. Beautifully conceived and executed !
