Ulysses Mahkee is a Zuni fetish carver who’s simple, sgraffito style ram, snake, turtle and bear fetishes are mostly carved from Pipestone and Picasso Marble. Ulysses is the brother of Zuni carver, Laura Quam, and the son of Zuni jeweler, Janie Mahkee (d). Ulysses learned fetish carving from his family members, including his brother-in-law, Andrew Quam.
