This new jar is such an interesting shape. It is both flat in some areas and has impressed indentations in others. Russell has incised two different mountain cats in different poses in medallions on both sides of the jar. Imbedded in the body of the cat is a gorgeous high-grade Lone Mountain turquoise. Tiny hematite heishi is used to border the medallions and it is also used in the eyes. Hand coiled, stone polished, and outdoor fired, it is a terrific example of a traditional jar with contemporary updates by Russell.
