5 ½” high by 5” wide

This new jar is amazing in both design and form. It shows a central sea turtle (notice the fins) set with a magnificent Kingman turquoise stone. The black mica ribs represent the waterfalls. Because he has taken the time to polish the mica, the ribs appear to be a soft and subtle black. You can see jumping salmon and a bird in flight, also decorated with another Kingman turquoise nugget. The bird is fishing for the eggs, and you can see the texturized sea weed as well. Russell has carved an asymmetrical opening, bordered by his trademark dots. This is an example of polychrome work, using the red, black and tan colors. The added superfine black jet heishi adds even more visual appeal. This is such a complete story, told in full by the incising on this jar. It is spectacular.
