14” high by 12” wide

This is in the realm of being called a masterpiece. Russell has not made this form at this size in many years. It is an updated version of a very old school style of water jar from San Ildefonso. This piece shows a subtle elegance, and is definitely a creative, artistic, and technical challenge. To make a piece this size, and to polish so deeply into the jar is a major feat. Of course, the mica work on this pot makes it shimmer. The contrast between the mica finish and the polished fluted rim is stunning. Few potters can keep the symmetry in line when they hand coil a jar like this. It is no surprise that it won accolades and the BEST OF DIVISION award at the Santa Fe Indian Market this past year. It is magnificent.
