I so enjoy working with Robert. His recreation of old Acoma designs is so creative. This new jar is hand coiled and painted with traditional pigments and slips. It is based on pottery he investigated. This is a design from 1900 that Robert calls “After the rain”. It has clouds, rainbows, and floral motifs.
When you look at the bottom, you can see he has slipped it with a red tone, and when you look inside the rim, it is the same tone – adding to the lovely balance of the painted designs.
