This is a new collaboration from the husband and wife team of Preston and Debra Duwyenie. Preston coiled the plate, and Debra did all the incised design work. The originality and workmanship on this polychrome red piece is exceptional. The central medallion depicts an actual turtle. The body is showing feathers, clouds and lightening. In the outer circle is a stylized water serpent, with more lightening coming out of the mouth. Bordering the central medallion are ELEVEN unique, individual turtles. Each one has its own patterns with remarkable details. Dragonflies are incised around each turtle. The actual border of the plate glistens with added mica, and the stair stepped design work shows great exactness. This is one of the nicest and most complex plates I have seen from Debra. Every aspect of the piece is fantastic.
