This is a new black/white traditionally made jar by Lisa Holt and her husband, Harlan Reano. It is so interesting to see what design elements Harlan will paint on the classic shapes that Lisa coils. This is Harlan’s description:
“For the top and bottom band of the pot I used basic Santo Domingo geometrics with tulip designs inside of them. I then used a leaf pattern design in the open space that was left. In the middle band I used a wild flower design where the leaves of the wild flower design create a different leaf pattern similar to the top and bottom bands. I always try to use a mixture of both Santo Domingo and Cochiti designs in most of the pots we do.”
It is always a pleasure to see their traditional coiled and painted work. Please enjoy this new jar.
