This wedding vase was made in 2000 and won a second place ribbon at the Eight Northern Pueblo Show. It is beautifully coiled into a gentle shape – very symmetrical. There is a nice balance between the polished areas and the carved and curved mica areas. Wedding vases are hard to coil, keeping the spouts even in form. There are many different stories about the meaning of the wedding vase. One thought is that the spout of the vessel represents the husband; the other, the wife. The looped handle represents the unity achieved with marriage. The space created within the loop represents the couples’ own circle of life. Linda did a lovely job in creating this special vessel. Particularly lovely, is the curved mica sparkly band that borders the avanyu with its high sheen.
