So unique, and different – This one, Joseph calls his “Cascabel Spiral Bowl” The bowl is Mimbres in origin. Traditionally, he explains, for a very important instance, the people prayed to their gods and then set a Spirit Bowl outside their dwelling at night. This would gain the additional favor, food and water for their patrons. The bowl in the center was filled with water. Again, he credits the idea from studying at the School of American Research in Sant Fe. You an see how the shape and form of this piece is actually a rattlesnake (cascabel) motif. It is so creative and so well executed and coiled. This snake bowl was made in 2000.
