Each year Jamie has made us a few fantastic hand coiled miniatures. This little gem is smoke-fired and quite black. It has an almost shimmering tone. It’s different from anything we have had, and it’s beautiful. Here is Jamie’s description: “These minis are created in a very elemental style. They are completely made with tiny balls of clay stacked one on top of the other and pinched into the shape of a vessel. While it is a simple process it is also one that creates endless possibilities for formal variation. Creating these forms feels kind of like a biological process like a wasp making a home. The most important bit of the vessel is what it contains on the inside. It is the love of our past and building of the future. That is the work.”
