This is one of Ida’s special night scenes. Made in 1996, it is a beautiful piece of art. The Navajo Nightway dance is beautifully evoked in the tall vase. This piece is such a lovely shape – and elongated oval form. The “picture” she draws thoughtfully shows us the night setting – the dancers as they move around the illuminated bonfires. We can see the shadows and the reflections, and we can barely see the cliffs and mesas in the background. It is beautifully created. There is an emotional response to this vase – as if we were watching the dances ourselves.
