Made in the 1980’s, this is a masterly example of Grace, doing her finest work. She has hand coiled and traditionally fired a red, long neck jar. The shape resembles a perfume atomizer. An awesome carved red lid acts as a stopper. This piece is highly polished to a high sheen. The central medallion is bordered by polished incised feathers. Inside the medallion, Grace has incised so many things, it really is like the animal and insect kingdom. She etched deer, lizard, quail, turtle, rabbit, and many bugs and insects. Each one is precise and striking. These designs were etched into the clay before the firing. She is so skillful, and so brilliant in her work. Grace is no longer making pottery, so her pieces are very precious. This lidded piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks restoration or repair.
