For over 25 years, Carolyn has refined her pottery making techniques. She creates intricate and exquisite fine line pottery with a 3-Dimensional touch. Carolyn is the granddaughter of Acoma potter, Delores Sanchez.
She was mentored by her older sisters. Carolyn loves to experiment with different mineral paints and adds new designs to her vast collection daily. Her pottery is entirely handmade using only native and natural clay mined at Acoma Pueblo. This natural clay is gray in color and after firing turns an off-white color. A white clay pigment is used to intensify the base white color. All paints are derived from clay pigments, ground minerals, and all natural vegetal plants gathered locally at Acoma Pueblo and around New Mexico. Carolyn does all the gathering and processing
of the pottery, herself, with some assistance from her husband, George Concho.
Carolyn’s talent has earned her top honors and awards at the major Native American juried art shows. It is a pleasure to show her work.
