Al Qoyawayma calls this new piece a “Serenity vase”. It's unique form is carved with two overlapping spouts. This polychrome jar is carved with a stylized butterfly and lightning on one side and extremely precise architectural raised designs the other. Notice the open key hole door and carved windows It is amazingly intricate. All the various colors are derived from native clays. The body of the jar is polished tan while the carving is slipped in tans and terracotta colors. It is a marvelous, unique interpretation of a classic Hopi vase.
